Are employees feeling burnt out already?

April 22, 2023 Melanie Hawken

by Paula Quinsee

We're hearing a lot of feedback in our networks that so many people are feeling exhausted already and it's only April....what are they going to feel like when we get to December....burnt out, stretched and hanging on for dear life?

McKinsey research found that workplace relationships account for 39% of employees’ job satisfaction.2 Moreover, relationships with management, in particular, account for 86% of workers’ satisfaction with their interpersonal ties at work.

Here are three effective ways to improve employee engagement in the workplace. Not only are engaged employees more productive, satisfied, and committed to their work, there is a direct positive impact on the overall success of the organisation no matter how big or small it is.

  • Creating an environment where collaboration can take place among employees creates a more cohesive and engaged workforce. One way to foster collaboration is to create opportunities for employees to work together on projects or tasks. This can be done by getting cross-functional teams to share their expertise and ideas with each other and in the process upskill and educate others on what happens in other teams and areas within the organisation.

  • Creating time to think is another effective way to boost employee engagement. By getting together for robust discussions around challenges and problems enables employees to become more creative and solution orientated in their approach to their day-to-day tasks. These activities can also help employees build relationships with each other, improve communication skills, and develop a sense of camaraderie.

  • One of the biggest reasons employees are exiting the building is the lack of growth opportunities. By investing in your employees' professional development both formally and informally can help improve engagement. Providing opportunities for growth helps them feel valued and motivated.

What is fast becoming a far greater need is the ability to manage and prioritise workloads to effectively manage deliverables and timelines. If you would like to equip your employees with skills around how to effectively multitask, then please reach out to us, we would love to help empower your teams. Creating a collaborative work culture helps create a more engaged and productive workforce that will benefit your organisation in the long run.

We'd love to help you facilitate connection by building engaged humans at work and home, resulting in more productive organisations.

Warmly

Paula
