In South Africa, Olga Mundangepfupfu, founder of specialist software consulting and data management business, CM Solutions, has the solutions to meet every need.
CM Solutions is one of the 117 businesses being showcased as part of the Absa Lionesses Xpo. Founder Olga Mundangepfupfu shares her personal entrepreneurial journey to building her successful and growing tech business.
What does your company do?
We are a software consulting company and we develop business solutions using technology for our clients, ensuring they receive the best return on investments and the right solution for their specific needs. We offer big data management where we utilize business intelligence tools to integrate data from different sources; we analyze the data in a way that makes sense to stakeholders and displaying it in various reporting tools or dashboards. We convert overwhelming data into actionable intelligence.
What inspired you to start your company?
In December 2015, we welcomed what seemed to be a healthy son. Unfortunately, he struggled with coping and was eventually discharged from hospital four months later requiring long-term life support. My maternity leave was over and it became more apparent to me that we needed a whole paradigm shift in our thinking. We needed a life which allowed me to take care of my baby and still be able to do what I loved, which Is building solutions. My passion for software development subsequently led us to starting our own company.
Why should anyone use your service or product?
My partner and I have a combined 29-year experience as developers in Java and .Net respectively, so we understand and are involved in the end-to-end process of the software development lifecycle in each of our projects. I would like to believe that is what sets us apart, as well as adapting agile processes throughout our development lifecycles. We aim to ask questions and request feedback throughout so that we can provide the right solution at the right price.
Tell us a little about your team
We have a niche team of experts ranging from Solution Architects, .Net Developers, Java Developers, Bi Developers and Business Analysts.
Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And, do you come from an entrepreneurial background?
I actually do come from an entrepreneurial background. I am originally from Zimbabwe and my family have been in the waste management industry for the past 25 years. The business was my grandfather's brainchild, and my mother, with the help of my siblings, are now involved in the running of the business.
What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?
We are a growing company and so we aspire to explore opportunities across the continent whilst meeting our targeted revenue and growing our team and brand in the process.
What gives you the most satisfaction being an entrepreneur?
What gives me the most satisfaction is seeing the hours of hard work come together as a working solution. I also love giving developers the opportunity to develop their skills and build the same passion that I have for what I do. It is all about contributing back to my community.
What's the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?
My advice to other women looking to start up is never underestimate your will power, your dreams are achievable.
