Across Liberia’s cities, women who make their living as street food sellers are about to get the opportunity to access critical basic food hygiene training because they are selling foodstuffs for public consumption. Lena Marshall, founder of Marshall and Nimene Group of Companies in Liberia has developed specialist food hygiene training courses specifically aimed at training these women food sellers. The course is being offered as part of Lena’s Women Empowerment Program.

The project is targeted at women entrepreneurs who are street food sellers from very low-income backgrounds. In most cases these women are cooking from inside make-shift structures and in an unhygienic environment. The new training programme currently has 20 women entrepreneurs registered within Monrovia and 30 registered in Grand Bassa County.

In addition to the training, participants will have access to the company’s Women in Business Mentoring Service for up to 12 months which consists of:

  • Continued Access to advice on Food safety

  • Customer Service Training

  • Banking and Finance (access to small loans for the improvement of their business - to help them graduate from a communal space into their own business space

  • Self Confidence Training

  • Basic Computer Training

The course is fully accredited by the Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia (EPA). At the end of the training session, participants will be issued with a Level 2 Food Safety Accredited Certificate. Founder Lena Marshall says, “We are enthusiastic about this program and eager to launch it so we can start to engage our women entrepreneurs.” Timeline of the programme launch will be 15th May 2019 and will be held in Liberia, West Africa.

What makes this programme very different is that it incorporates not only a Food Safety course, but also a continuous mentoring programme which includes: customer service training, training on the financial services which are available to the women, self confidence training and basic computer classes. The new programme will be officially launched in the country through two special events. Firstly, there will be a launch in the capital Monrovia, followed by another in the rural area of Grand Bassa county.

Today, most women dream of either getting a better job or starting and growing their own business so they can earn more money, have more freedom, and do more of what they want to do and less of what they don't want to do. The problem: most women struggle to ever make this an actual reality because they become overloaded, overwhelmed, and often unsure of the right path to take because they lack the right skills, training, education, time and money to start the process off. Without the right training or guidance in place when they make this important transition, it can be very difficult due to the competition and over-saturation in the marketplace today.

In this life-changing programme, participants will discover how to break through their limitations, create more wealth, and find more time so they can do what they really want to do. They will discover a clear and easy to follow, step-by-step system and structure that will allow them to increase their earning potential. They will discover practical, easy to apply modern mind techniques to beat procrastination. This will allow them to make clear decisions and have bulletproof confidence, enabling them to be crystal clear on what they want, how they will get there, and a focus to continually drive themselves forward to achieve massive results in all areas of their life, career and business. They will walk away from the program feeling very confident with a clear structure on how to start, build and grow their business in today's marketplace. They will also be empowered to create more stability in their life whilst finding fulfillment through their  passion, allowing them to create a future where they choose to do what they want, when they want, and live life on their own terms.
