10 Stress Busters for Women Entrepreneurs

Let’s face it, life as an entrepreneur can often be stressful.  From cash flow challenges to handling difficult clients, or managing impossibly long working hours and trying to find that elusive work-life balance, there are so many possible stress points that have to be dealt with each day.  The key to success is to manage stress, rather than letting it get the better of you.  So, here are 10 stress busters to help lighten the load....

 

Manage your time -  There are only 24 hours in each day and only so many of those hours can be dedicated to business.  So, the trick is to know how best to organize your time to make the most of those hours.  Plan your daily work schedule in detail, allocate the correct amount of time to each task, and focus on the things that will have the greatest return on investment.

Don’t sweat the small stuff - Let’s be honest, there are so many challenges to be faced in business and life each day that it is not possible to do everything.  So, stop stressing out about all the things you can’t control, like the bad weather, the traffic, the chores back at home, etc.  Instead, focus on the things that matter and that will enhance life.

Delegate – Remember, you can’t do everything on your own, even though you might think that no-one can do your job as well as you.  So, trust the people around you to help and delegate as much as possible, leaving you to concentrate on the important task of building a business.

Stay focused – No matter what challenges you may face in your entrepreneurial life, and regardless of how many distractions there may be, remained focused at all times on your goals and aspirations.  This focused approach will help you to make those goals a reality.  

Keep positive – No matter how stressful your entrepreneurial life may seem at times, remember that it is far better to look at life as a glass half full, rather than a glass half empty. Try and remind yourself regularly about everything that is good and positive in your entrepreneurial life and why you embarked on this journey in the first instance.  

Share and collaborate – An entrepreneur’s life can often be a solitary and often lonely one, so the best way of combating any possibility of isolation is to share your entrepreneurial journey with friends, colleagues, family, and associates.  

Eat a healthy diet – It is all too easy when we are busy or stressed to skip meals or eat something fast, convenient and often unhealthy.  So, to reduce stress levels and to create positive feelings of wellbeing, schedule regular, healthy meals into your daily routine and try not to skip breakfast, the most important meal of the day.

Keep talking – When entrepreneurial life seems overwhelming, the best remedy is to talk to someone and share your concerns, thoughts and emotions.  Getting someone else’s perspective of often a great way of finding the right solutions to a problem or challenge.

Exercise – This is a great stress reliever, particularly as when you are physically active, your body is producing feel-good endorphins which help you to deal with stress better.  Any type of exercise will do, from a workout in the gym, to a relaxing walk with family and friends, a bikeride, a kickboxing class, or anything else that appeals.  Fitting daily exercise into your routine will actively reduce stress levels and instead make you a healthier and happier person.

Remember why you became an entrepreneur – When things are tough, and the challenges of being in business seem too great, it is good to remind ourselves of why we became entrepreneurs in the first place.  Remember that you are fulfilling your dreams, realizing your ambitions and living your life in control of your destiny
