October 25, 2020 Melanie Hawken

by Usha Maharaj

“Happiness comes from aligning what you do to who you are”

It is said that happiness is a choice, but what if you are struggling to find your happiness, or you are feeling out of balance and stressed? This could be a sign that your outer reality and inner world are not totally in alignment. Perhaps the way you spend your time and live your days is not entirely consistent with the way the real you would want to invest that time to bring you happiness in life.

It's been a hectic month. Board meetings and client meetings seem to be happening daily. You still haven’t updated the monthly financial report. Your three articles are still pending and to top it all off, none of your new projects seem to be going as planned. But you still want—need to do more.

Ambition and motherhood - should we even bother?

October 25, 2020 Melanie Hawken

by Tshego Dludla, founder of RoboSTEAM Train

3 points to consider as you go for your dreams as a Mompreneur.

There was a time when becoming a mother meant that one would have to quit work and just be a mom. Yes, that is the best job in the world but even as I type that I’m rolling my eyes a little because we can’t use that to make moms feel guilty for being ambitious. Not anymore. The truth of the matter is that many moms suffer in silence on so many matters and this one is no different. Before your name was changed to mom, you had hopes and dreams so why should they die now. It took me reading a blog by Busie Sholo to help me realize that I don’t have to feel bad about still wanting to build an empire even though I am a mom of three.

by Tatenda Rungisa

Learning is continuous and one of the best ways to instill knowledge in employees is through training or educational workshops. This may be facilitated by head of departments or the human resources office. The success of the workshop solely lies on how the planning was done from the onset. Planning the workshop is a crucial stage which has to be considered in order for success to be evident.

by Thato Mokhothu-Ramohlanka

If there is one thing we can all agree on it is that the year 2020 has been challenging. With many countries around the world going through protracted government induced lockdown periods, businesses, relationships, and our personal wellbeing have been put under immense pressure. As the global economy slowly reemerges from the constraints brought about by the lockdown, our resilience and fortitude will continue to be tested well into next year.

by Ronel Jooste

Are you self-employed and feeling stressed about not having sufficient retirement savings? Plenty of business owners are still seen to be actively working years after reaching retirement age. They really love what they do, or they don’t have somebody reliable to take over or they don’t want to let go of their ‘baby’ are the common reasons provided to explain this situation. 5 Strategies to develop your Personal Brand online

pablo-1116.png

by Usha Maharaj

Last night while talking to students of my upcoming Leadership Evolution Masterclass Series #LEMS, one of them shared that, before investing in my group coaching program, she and her husband "investigated" me online. Fortunately, I have invested time and energy in developing an online brand that is consistent with and reflects who I am and how I serve. Through this process, she found the comfort she needed to click on a button and sign up for my group coaching program.

I love learning. It’s part of who I am and I’ve realized that life does not seem right unless I’m expanding my knowledge or skills in some way. It’s easy to satisfy this need in a full-time job and as an entrepreneur as there are always opportunities to create new offerings and collaborations.

Mindfully… written

by Dr Ashika Pillay

Mindfulness is a topic that is close to my heart. My personal journey as a medical professional, teacher, coach, and healer has been profoundly shifted by my journey to “Inner space”. I started meditating in 2013 when we took a family holiday to India, and the Deepak and Oprah 21 Day meditation was the perfect entry for my husband Thiru and myself. Since then, we’ve both gone deep and wide in our exploration, and learning of ourselves, our minds, and the world.

5 Hacks To Truly Own Your Time

“Slow down and everything you are chasing will come around and catch you.” – John De Paola

I’m sure at some point in your life, you have come across the dreaded ‘scope creep’. If you’ve ever done a building or renovation project, I’m quite sure things didn’t quite come in on the original budget. There was ‘just this’ one last thing that you hadn’t taken into consideration. Or a project at work had much more involved than you originally anticipated and left you scrambling to try and produce more for the same resources.

Today, I don't hear the expression “live in the present moment.” In fact, the first time that I woke up to the meaning of these words was through Eckhart Tolle’s book, ‘The Power of Now.’

Take care of those who care!

Is it possible to change the world through the personal and professional training of early childhood educators and thus positively impact children's lives? Much is said about the well-being of children, but little is said or acknowledged about the well-being of those who spend hours, days, weeks, years caring for these same children.

What are the rules that govern personal data protection and cybersecurity in South Africa?

pablo-1077.png

by Adv. Lufuno T Khorommbi

Cybersecurity laws and policies have a direct impact on human rights, particularly the right to privacy, freedom of expression, and the free flow of information. The world over, policymakers have created several national policies with the intention of balancing these rights; protecting information communication technologies (ICTs) systems against malicious attacks and minimizing data breaches.

The world has been thrown off its centre due to Covid-19 and the implications thereof. Our country is in a state of emergency and lockdown has resulted in jobs being lost, salaries being cut, personal finances being destroyed and an economy that is damaged. However, despite these circumstances we still have to find a way to manage our finances, take care of our families and ourselves and move forward.

Influencers and contracts

by Claire Keet Pollock and Sinal Govender, Co-Founders of pop.law

Based on a few chats we’ve had with people in our community, it appears there’s a bit of a vibe around freelance contracts. Especially when it comes to influencers and the contracts they do and don’t sign with the brands that they work with. (We know there’s also a bit of a vibe around the term “influencer” - call it what you will: digital creator, mom-fluencer, curator, online ambassador). What we’re talking about are people who market or review things to their online communities in exchange for a product, payment, trade exchange or sponsorship.

“If you don’t like something change it; if you can’t change it, change the way you think about it”. - Mary Engelbreit

In 2018, I got the opportunity to tick off an item that had been on my bucket list for the past 8 years – to do a TEDx talk. Around the fifteenth draft, I was finally ready to send this off to my coach for review. At this point, I thought I had nailed it and was ready to move onto the next phase of preparing for the stage.
