Hon. Tiguidanké Traoré, a visionary entrepreneur harnessing the power of female leadership to create positive social change

May 2, 2025 Melanie Hawken

Hon. Tiguidanke Traore, founder, ToutesLeaders (Guinea)

Startup Story

Hon. Tiguidanke Traore is the change-making founder of ToutesLeaders in Guinea, a non-partisan citizen movement committed to reinvigorating democracy through the power of female leadership. Its shared values are: social justice and entrepreneurship. She is a graduate of the ISSIC School of Journalism in Dakar, Senegal, specializing in Corporate and Social Communication. After gaining extensive experience in administration as an administrative employee for the municipality of Chaudfontaine in Belgium, she embarked on a business venture in 2010 by creating her own label, "COCOSTYLE," which promotes community living through inclusive fashion inspired by Afro-European cultures. She launched her own e-commerce business and participated in the civic engagement of the African diaspora by leveraging the rich cultural diversity in the Liège region (BELGIUM). She also invested internationally by opening her first showroom in Casablanca, Morocco. She has created jobs for 120 people through her business and organisation.

In 2016, through the NGO AWAC "Africa Woman Agrobusiness Center," which she co-founded, she began a tour of several West African countries: Burkina Faso, Mali, and Guinea. The goal was to coach rural women by promoting their local products, focusing on their services and the socio-economic impact they generate for the rural community with local and international partners. She also serves the community by working in foundations and community organizations, working with cultural communities such as "Musoya" in Mali.

In 2018, a new wind began to blow in Tiguidanké Traoré's life when she decided to enter politics with the Reform Movement Party (MR). Thus, she became the first Belgian of Guinean origin to run in the European elections (legislative and municipal) for the Reform Movement Party, where she served as a substitute in the Wallonia-Brussels Parliament, bringing a political alternative that is socio-liberal and intercultural, demanding greater respect for individual freedoms, social justice, and the promotion of African cultural diversity. At the local level, she focused on the mobility plan, a city that supports solidarity and values hard work. For her, a city needs a better quality of life, a city that focuses on its youth, its roots, its culture, an ecological city with green energy and soft mobility.

In 2021, by Presidential Decree of Her Excellency General Mamadi DOUMBOUYA, President of the Republic of Guinea, she left Belgium to serve in her native country as a Member of Parliament for the Guinean Diaspora of the Benelux countries to the European Union (EU) in the Guinean Parliament. Today, Tigui is a fulfilled woman, married and the mother of two great treasures, with extensive experience in several areas of life. She has solid experience in immigration, communications, administration, and partnership/business development, as well as serving as an administrator with several public and private organizations.

Lionesses of Africa spoke to the visionary change-maker, Hon. Tiguidanké Traore, to learn more about her entrepreneurial journey, her vision and her mission to positively change lives

“We train in citizenship and civic-mindedness to cultivate a sense of patriotism and inspire women to engage in the public sphere and take their place at decision-making tables to assert their engaging leadership.”

What inspired you to start your company?

The desire to change the world around you is a powerful driving force to contribute to changing the world. Whether at school, in the factory, in the office, or in life, those who get up in the morning for themselves, their family, and their country deserve the commitment of bold leaders to make their voices heard and defend their rights and freedoms around the world. It is this grain of madness and renewed hope that my inner voice sings to me that is the leitmotif of this exciting collective adventure.

What makes your business, service or product special?

ToutesLeaders gives a voice to the voiceless, opens paths where there are no paths, creates inspiring leaders from diverse backgrounds and with multiple profiles. We train in citizenship and civic-mindedness to cultivate a sense of patriotism and inspire women to engage in the public sphere and take their place at decision-making tables to assert their engaging leadership.

Tell us a little about your team

We are mostly volunteers who give their time and energy to inspire other women to believe in themselves, their potential, and let the light that lies dormant shine.

“We are a non-partisan citizen movement launched by a handful of women to reinvigorate democracy through the power of female leadership. Our shared values are: social justice and entrepreneurship.”

Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And, do you come from an entrepreneurial background?

From fashion entrepreneur to Member of Parliament, I took the stairs instead of the elevator, worked hard and dreamed hard enough to never give up, sorted through my little treasures' socks, attended late-night parent meetings, toured open houses to find the best universities likely to meet their expectations, and woke up between planes at the risk of missing the next flight to attend their graduation ceremonies. I’ve come a long way, a long way. I quit my administrative job, therefore becoming an employee, to create my own entrepreneurial fashion label. I'll let you guess my unusual and exciting journey.

What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?

Investing in the information and training of our leaders to enhance their careers as activists, whether in the agricultural or environmental fields. We want to give meaning to activism by offering citizen workshops to raise awareness, learn, and demystify citizenship, understand voting and the power of one's voice at the ballot box, and create civic service volunteers to educate our rural and peri-urban populations.

What gives you the most satisfaction being an entrepreneur?

Knowing that a woman can dream of running for local office or simply forming an opinion, defending her ideas, speaking in public to defend her positions, and collaborating by inspiring other women to engage in civic struggles... I will have won my bet.

What's the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?

Believe in yourself, even if everyone tells you otherwise, go for it, don't do what everyone else does, stay authentic, different because the power of our difference is a bit of an unwavering driving force to change the world. It's my hobby... and at this game, I'm the best of my kind, believe me...
