In my journey as a mentor and entrepreneur, I have learned the power of personal mastery and self-actualized leadership as the key weapon in achieving success as an entrepreneur. You cannot reinvent a business without reinventing the person who is leading that business. Therefore, in understanding your purpose, strengths, and talents as a leader you become more inspired and confident in the knowledge of what your skills and talents can achieve, and you are able to inspire your team to follow suit.
The practice of personal mastery helps you become a better and dynamic leader. When the focus is on self-reflection, improving your skill set, growing daily, and seeking feedback against a model of excellence, it inspires others and achieving success is then acquired through teamwork instead of dominating conversations. I often share insights of my entrepreneurial journey with the women entrepreneurs whom I mentor, and in my personal entrepreneurial journey, mastery was not necessarily found in the self-development and business books that I often read, that is just one part. Personal mastery for me has come from going through the tough entrepreneurship journey that has allowed me to understand the lessons that are in those books, because until I went through the journey and overcame the various obstacles presented along the way, I did not understand the words on the pages I was reading. I rarely valued the lessons that people gave me in the beginning stages, and I was unable to crack it for myself in whatever I was trying to achieve through reading these books, because there was a certain level of self-awareness that was missing, and my journey was not complete.
So, it is important to allow yourself to go through journeys that make you extremely self-aware, build your character, that make you understand your talents and understand which ones you want to lean in to, what are your challenges, how you are going to deal with them and what do you want to work on. You have infinite power within yourself, and you intentionally need to take ownership of your journey. Learn from your journey as an entrepreneur and move forward with intention towards harnessing the strengths you gain from the experience of your journey.
In my efforts to delve into the art of personal mastery, I have found that the best leaders manage a paradox around mastery; on the one hand, they're restless about closing the gap between their desired future state and their current reality. But they also actively generate this 'creative tension' by continuing to paint an ever-more aspirational vision of excellence as they define it, this is where their authenticity comes from.
As we step into the last quarter of 2023, focus on mastering your approach to your personal growth and your business. Always look at things from a different perspective. You might define it as a journey towards continuous improvement. It's about understanding your personality and taking responsibility for the direction that your life and business is going to take. Take the personal of your personal brand and lean into the story that God made for you and become intentional about the personal experiences that have shaped you.
There is an element of self discipline involved when one pursues the journey of mastery, and this is when mentorship also becomes key. A mentor will help you dissect critical aspects of your:

- personal purpose
- personal values
- personal perception
- personal transformation
- personal Awareness
- personal Alignment
in order for you to connect to the core of who you are. In essence, personal mastery is not about limiting yourself. In fact, it is just the opposite, so keep watering yourself with patience, invest in yourself and watch as the seeds you've planted within yourself bear fruit. Plant. Nurture. Grow.
