Gladys Kgorane is the founder and owner of Caleb's farm in Potchefstroom, South Africa, a niche agri business that supplies farm fresh products, eggs, free range chickens, sheep packages and pork packages for its customers. As a family oriented entrepreneur, Gladys is married with three children, she started her farming business on her smallholding back in 2013. Today she has seen it grow substantially from those early days, and now supplies 30 trays of eggs daily to customers, in addition to a wide range of farm fresh meat and fresh vegetables.
Caleb’s Farm is one of the 117 companies showcased at the Absa Lionesses Xpo. Lioness Weekender spoke to founder Gladys Kgorane about her entrepreneurial journey to building a family oriented agribusiness that has growth on its mind.
What does your company do?
At Caleb’s Farm, we supply farm fresh products, eggs, free range chickens, sheep packages and pork packages for our customers. We are also providers of fresh cut processed vegetables which are ready to go into the pot. We offer a fresh produce supply service for the catering of funerals and weddings, and also for households and companies, starting with 1kg packages through to 10kg packages or larger quantities as required by our customers. Our promise is to save our customers time while not compromising on quality.
What inspired you to start your company?
The love of farming and providing farm fresh products.
Why should anyone use your service or product?
We are four families, and farm fresh products are what every family needs to support healthy eating.

The Caleb’s Farm team members are all young and hungry to learn and in particular to support their families.
Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And do you come from an entrepreneurial background?
My journey has been full of challenges, but the dream has always been to be the solution, and that has been my inspiration. To feed the nation.
What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?
On a personal level, having built the business, my aspiration is now to become a commercial farmer.
What gives you the most satisfaction being an entrepreneur?
Being the solution.
What's the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?
Start with what you have and know that giving up is not an option.
