Noushinah Ganey, founder of Cowey Park Pharmacy & Skin Time Aesthetic Clinic (South Africa)

Impact Partner Content - Absa

Noushinah Ganey is the Founder and Managing Director of Cowey Park Pharmacy and Skin Time Aesthetic Clinic. She has been a part of the Aesthetic industry for 18 years and the pharmaceutical industry for 5 years. She has been interviewed on many radio platforms and been a TV personality for 2 years hosting a weekly lifestyle show targeted at females. Noushinah was also recently selected to participate as a panelist for an International Cosmeceutical Company.

Cowey Park Pharmacy is one of the 117 businesses from across South Africa currently being showcased at the Absa Lionesses Xpo. Founder Noushinah Ganey shares her journey and her vision to empower and uplift women in South Africa by treating the external physiognomy and visage from within. She also shares her goal  to franchise her SkinTime South Africa brand, affording women across the nation an opportunity to independently run their own business and receive expert hands on practical knowledge and training.

What does your company do?

Cowey Park Pharmacy is an Independent community pharmacy and Aesthetic Wellness Clinic. We provide the following services:

1. Acute and Chronic Patient care
2.Primary Health Clinic
3. Aesthetic Skin Clinic offering medical skin treatments as well as Laser Face and Body treatments
4. IV Drip Bar: Infusion Vitamins and Anti-oxidant Drips
5. Weight Loss Clinic

What inspired you to start your company?

As a woman, being a mum and a wife as well as an ambitious entrepreneur, I understand that a woman's health and wellbeing is of utmost importance. If a woman's health and energy levels are optimum, she is able to give of her best to her family. As an ambitious female entrepreneur, it is imperative for a woman to feel confident about herself, especially in the competitive world we live in today.

Why should anyone use your service or product?

1. One on One Consultation allows for us to understand a patient’s lifestyle and requirements
2. Refill on product and medication for our patients
3. Free delivery service within 10km radius
4. Loyalty Programme together with a referral programme
5. Online Store for convenience
6. Virtual Consultations

Tell us a little about your team

My staff complement makes up a team of energetic women that share the same passion as myself. We are service driven and always put our patients’ needs as a top priority. As women we motivate each other and support one another. Our team comprises of two Pharmacists, a Pharmacist Assistant, a Sales Consultant, an Aesthetician, and a General Assistant.

Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And do you come from an entrepreneurial background?

My journey began at the age of 14, I was always an entrepreneur and I worked at my parents’ fabric boutique after school and on the weekends. Fortunately for me, I was given the opportunity to accompany my mum on a business trip abroad and met with her suppliers. I grew passionate about design and how beautiful women looked in couture garments purchased at my parents’ boutique. I had then taken up Design and qualified as a Fashion Designer and this is when I felt there was a piece of the puzzle missing and it was important for women to have great skin and feel confident about themselves. I knew instantly that I needed to pursue a career in Health and Wellness to be able to put it all together for women. It isn't always about the garment you wear to look beautiful, as a woman you need to feel the beauty from within. I qualified with an International License to practice Aesthetics and opened my first little clinic in 2008. I have followed my dreams and finally opened the Pharmacy and
IV Drip Bar in 2016. I rebranded my business and I am still following my dreams.

What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?

For almost two decades my vision has been to empower and uplift women in South Africa by treating the external physiognomy and visage from within. In the 21st century, it is now more important than ever to forge a sense of confidence and poise in the semblance of women. This is not to be mistaken with the likes of the conventional cosmetics industry entailing the concealment of skin related issues, but rather medical intervention relying on bona fide results. More often than not, the lack of confidence and diffidence of women can be attributed to the discountenance of them towards themselves, which in turn greatly manifests itself in poor self-confidence. My final goal is to franchise SkinTime South Africa, affording women across the nation an opportunity to independently run their own business, and receive expert hands on practical knowledge and training. Here at SkinTime we feel a deep responsibility to empower and treat women of all ages, colours, shapes and sizes. As famously quoted by Louisa May Alcott, “The emerging women will be strong-minded, strong-hearted, strong-souled and strong-bodied...beauty and strength must go together”

What gives you the most satisfaction being an entrepreneur?

For me, the satisfaction I feel on a daily basis is the accomplishment of motivating my staff and assisting them with work life balance. As women, we understand the challenges that we face with balancing personal responsibilities and our career ambitions.

What's the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?

When you have an idea, never doubt yourself thinking that it perhaps isn't possible. It only becomes impossible when you don't take on the challenge. As women, we are blessed with great intuition, follow that and turn the impossible into possible beginnings.
