Startup Story

For all those people in Mozambique who want to develop and improve their quality of life and find greater harmony with their communities and the environment in which they live, help is at hand. Fluir - Centro de Desenvolvimento Pessoal, co-founded by coach Kathy de Araújo and yoga instructor Adriana Jamisse, offers a holistic approach through yoga and coaching workshops, and positively changing lives.

LoA chatted to co-founder Kathy de Araújo to find out more.

What does your company do?

We offer regular classes in Yoga, Qigong, Taichi, individual and group coaching sessions and relaxing massage therapy. We participate in events and develop workshops. All these activities, in addition to addressing the individual and their challenges, cultivate the idea of a community with more harmony and love. At Fluir, our clients find a place of positive, judgment-free energy where they can develop a greater connection with themselves.

“At Fluir, our clients find a place of positive, judgment-free energy where they can develop a greater connection with themselves.”

“We are a center dedicated to personal development using a holistic approach based on self-knowledge.”

What inspired you to start your company?

Fluir - Centro de Desenvolvimento Pessoal emerged from a partnership between a yoga instructor, Adriana Jamisse, and a coach, Kathy de Araújo, who developed an intensive week-long program in which yoga classes and coaching workshops were combined. Satisfied with the program, our customers started asking us to create a space where they could continue the practices. In 2019, we opened Fluir.

We are a center dedicated to personal development using a holistic approach based on self-knowledge. All of our services lead the clients to get in touch with themselves and to learn to use tools that will develop and improve their quality of life, and from there, harmony with the community and the environment that surround them.

What inspired us to start flowing was the taste for our areas, and because we believe that through them we could create a space where people can work on their self-development.

Why should anyone use your service or product?

The fact that we combine different areas and are focused on a holistic approach to self-knowledge.

Tell us a little about your team

Kathy de Araújo - Personal, career coach and internationally certified behavioral analyst, psychologist with expertise in training, leadership and team motivation. Focusing on the development of human potential through self-awareness, develops activities such as individual life coaching sessions, career, sports and vocational guidance for teenagers, young people and adults, holding workshops on combined practices and personal development, group dynamics and interventions for high performance and development of team potential.

Adriana Jamisse - Instructor of holistic somatic practices of well-being and self-knowledge. Internationally certified as a Yoga, Taichi and Qigong instructor. Develops activities such as regular classes, workshops, seminars and debates on these practices with a focus on self-development and holistic self-knowledge with the body as the first access point for this process. Such activities aim to improve the quality of life, physical, mental and spiritual health and the availability of internal tools for self-realization and a genuine and satisfactory connection with your environment and community.

“All of our services lead the clients to get in touch with themselves and to learn to use tools that will develop and improve their quality of life, and from there, harmony with the community and the environment that surround them.”

“Our goal is to reach more and more people and continue research and training so that we become a reference point in the area of holistic self-knowledge.”

Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And, do you come from an entrepreneurial background?

We are two curious people who always like to try new things. The choice of our training areas were choices that were not very common, which forced us to create a little more the market in which we want to work. Even though this is our first joint company, we have practical experience in our respective areas.

What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?

Our goal is to reach more and more people and continue research and training so that we become a reference point in the area of holistic self-knowledge.

What gives you the most satisfaction being an entrepreneur?

The challenge is something that motivates us. And being able to work with people and see that we contribute to their well-being and satisfaction for life is a huge reward for us.

What's the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?

Structure the dream, put it on paper, analyze the possibilities and start, even if the beginning is small. Take one step at a time focused on the right direction and it will take us where we want to go, even if it is necessary to adapt, recreate and restructure along the way.

Why LoA loves it….

In today’s increasingly stressful world, we all need to find that quality time where we can reconnect with ourselves, decompress, and find a little peace and tranquility in our busy lives. Adriana Jamisse and Kathy de Araújo are creating just such a haven with their holistic approach through yoga and coaching workshops. As a result, they are positively changing lives. Theirs is a great story of women entrepreneurs who are bringing their specialist expertise and knowledge to contribute to a need in society. — Melanie Hawken, founder & ceo of Lionesses of Africa
