Lioness Launch: African Dermal Science launches its exciting Uso Skincare range in South Africa

This month sees South African specialist skincare company, African Dermal Science, launching its exciting Uso Skincare range. It is an advanced anti-ageing, doctor-developed skincare range that has been locally formulated to address the specific skincare needs of Africans.


African Dermal Science is a South African skincare company, whose passion lies in understanding the skincare needs of Africans. The company is committed to developing quality, world-class, premium products, with the sophistication of a global brand and showcasing the beauty of science for African skin. The Uso Skincare range is an advanced anti-ageing, doctor-developed skincare range that has been locally formulated to address the specific skincare needs of Africans.

The sole focus of African Dermal Science’s product development process was focused on local African women, understanding their needs as women of colour and living under the harsh African climate. The Uso Skincare range focuses on addressing skin concerns specific to African women such as uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, seasonal dryness, oiliness, and also providing a sunscreen that does not make women look grey. In a market that is dominated by foreign brands, Uso Skincare is a pioneer in science driven, cutting edge, efficacious and safe product lines, all specifically formulated for Africans.

Speaking about the launch of the Uso Skincare range, founder Dr Theo Mothoa-Frendo says:

”We believe we have created a brand that showcases the beauty of science for African skin, inspires trust, sophistication and African pride. Over 3 years we have worked with African women, renowned cosmetic scientists and medical doctors to research and develop this Proudly South African range that incorporates the best of what nature and the latest skin science technologies offers. We would like to see Uso grow to become a Global brand.”

The brand launched nationally in 2018 and now the company celebrates every new store it lists its products in. Look out for all new announcements on the company’s Social Media pages below. The Uso Skincare range is currently available in over 35 stores in South Africa, Botswana and Namibia through retail giant Edgars, where it is the first local African owned and African focused skincare brand to be on their shelves. Products are also available online at www.uso.africa and in Mozambique through an independent stockist. The Uso Africa website lists all current stockists.
