Comic books are big business around the world, with millions of dedicated fans following their favourite heroes and heroines in illustrated stories each week. In South Africa, fans of comic books are now going to get their own uniquely African characters to engage with, thanks to Vanimax Comix. This new online comic book site, created by Jessica Alily and her family, is set to win a host of new fans across the African continent and globally.

Vanimax Comix is an online comic book site created by Jessica Alily and her family, telling stories of African related characters. On the site you can preview and download e-comics, screen savers, posters and graphic books through a simplified subscription and payment system that gives you value for money. Although the site is still young (and so are most of the creators of Vanimax Comix), the exquisite stories and beautifully rendered digital finishes of the works showcase the amazing master craftsmanship of this unique family team.

Vanimax Comics is launching its BW SERIES (Black and White Series): these are seven to eight pages of short stories about its African characters. The launch starts with the 'Big FOUR', which are the most iconic and relatable characters in the series, they include:

Moonlight (The Queen of All Stars)
Jack Ebony based on the 1981 Pacesetters' 'Mark of the Cobra' novel
Super South Africa (Africa's Finest)

What makes these comics unique is that they are completely free to fans and followers on the Vanimax Comix social media pages, like Facebook and Instagram. The quality of work and digital illustration makes it eye-catching and remarkable. The aspirations of Jessica and her family co-founders are to get people to engage with the Vanimax Comix collection of African characters, especially the big FOUR who come from Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
