The Magic Mohair Gift Packs, launching this month, use a series of easy to follow patterns that come alive with the luxurious textures, magical colours and lustre of the yarns that Adele’s Mohair is renowned for. Each gift pack contains 12 balls of yarn (9 balls of brushed and boucle Mohair yarn and 3 balls of exciting handmade novelty yarns) available in 20 gorgeous colourways, and, of course, a free pattern. “For a while now, I have noted that many knitters were sharing their love of the craft with me, but had lost their ‘mojo’. Then there were those knitters that were not confident enough to try our new and wacky yarns. The no-mojo vibe I was seeing, left me wondering how we could get them back ‘to their needles’ and to try the variety of yarns in a non-threatening way! And so, the idea of creating a kit or pack to help them to get their groove back, was born. We played around with various textures, colours and ball sizes in order to knit a simple pattern – but the result had to be a ‘WOW… did I just knit that??’ We tested them on a few friends who had lost the spark in their relationship with their needles, and some that were simply nervous of experimenting with textured and wacky yarns. Well, before we knew it, they were asking for more in this colour and that colour – please! The feedback was unanimous. So, we finalised the concept of a kit /pack and got cracking. Suddenly, we had 20 different colourways to choose from and 3 different patterns to knit! Our next challenge was how to take these packs to market. Someone suggested turning this into a gift box which sounded like a fabulous idea. However, finding a box that allowed one to see inside proved to be the most difficult part of packaging this idea. As we export most of our products, these boxes had to be ‘travel-friendly’ and easy to stack on shelves in crafting stores. We eventually found a supplier that was kind enough to customize the box for us and this is where we ended up! We have called these gift boxes ‘Mohair Magic Gift packs’ because they are exactly that. They can be a gift to anyone who loves their needles.
