“I just learned to use the challenges as stepping stones to reaching the desired goals.”
- Achenyo Idachaba is the founder of MitiMeth in Nigeria, a project that merges green business with traditional artisan weaving skills. MitiMeth is all about extracting value from an environmental problem - the infestation of invasive aquatic weeds in the waterways around Lagos. By transforming this environmental menace into profit, Achenyo is helping people in her communities to stand up and walk by creating job opportunities through innovative handcrafted products. In 2014 Achenyo was awarded the Cartier Women’s Initiative Award as the Laureate for Sub-Saharan Africa.
