What inspired you to start your company?

At Abaguquli4IR, we don’t just deliver digital solutions—we create access, ignite potential, and design futures. What sets our products apart is the powerful fusion of technology, inclusivity, and purpose.

1. Human-Centered by Design
Every course, certification, and tool we offer is built around the real needs of underserved individuals and communities. Our approach is deeply rooted in empathy and lived experience—we know what it's like to be excluded, and we design to bridge the gap.

2. Future-Focused, Locally Relevant
While our training is aligned with the latest global tech trends—AI, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Drones, and more—we tailor our content for local impact. We speak the language of township entrepreneurs, first-time learners, and grassroots innovators, ensuring no one gets left behind in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

3. Accredited, Practical, and Impact-Driven
We don’t offer box-ticking qualifications. Our products are nationally accredited, highly practical, and designed to produce real-world results—whether that’s a new job, a launched business, or improved operational efficiency.

4. Access to the Economy, Not Just Education
Our programs go beyond upskilling. We provide access to economic participation through networks, certifications, and business support—turning digital knowledge into income-generating power.

5. Born from Experience, Built for Transformation
Abaguquli4IR was founded by someone who lived the hustle, survived the setbacks, and transformed adversity into impact. That DNA runs through everything we do—we're not corporate disruptors, we're community builders. In short: Our products are more than just educational—they’re empowering, inclusive, and transformative. They’re built for people who are ready to change their lives—and their communities—through technology.

Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And, do you come from an entrepreneurial background?

My entrepreneurial journey was born in the heart of the Cape Flats—a place shaped by adversity, but rich in spirit and quiet ambition. Growing up in a community where survival often overshadowed dreams, I learned early on that talent and determination alone weren’t always enough. I was a curious, driven young person with big ideas, but without access to mentors or support structures, my ambitions were often met with doubt, not encouragement.

Lessons from My Father
My father was a hardworking man who made a living selling refurbished furniture to provide for our family. I watched him hustle day in and day out—navigating setbacks, robberies, and the unforgiving weight of financial instability. He never gave up, and that imprinted something powerful in me: resilience in the face of chaos.

Together, we set up shop at flea markets every Sunday. Some days were golden. Others, soul-crushing. I’ll never forget the day a fire consumed all of his stock. We lost everything—but we didn’t stop. That moment became a turning point. I knew I had to do more. Not just for my family, but for others growing up in similar circumstances—people with potential but limited access.

The First Real Job
My first job paid R800 a month in a high-crime area. I faced more than just low wages—I faced fear, instability, and the stark realization that I was capable of so much more. After experiencing a traumatic robbery, I made a decision: I wasn't going to live my life surviving. I was going to create a life worth living—for myself and my family.

Planting the Seeds of Change
I eventually stepped into a leadership role in a defense and engineering company, overseeing HR and developing staff. It was here I discovered my true calling—designing pathways to opportunity. I loved building people up, connecting them to training, and watching them thrive. But the more I worked, the more I saw the deep, painful gaps in access—especially for people like me. That’s when the spark turned into a fire. I wanted to build something that made those opportunities accessible to everyone.

The Leap of Faith
Starting my business wasn’t a leap—it was a climb. I had no formal qualifications, just a relentless drive, street smarts, and a clear vision. I poured myself into workshops, mentorship, and research. I built from scratch—investing in processes, technology, and branding to make sure our training programs stood out in quality and relevance. I knew we had one shot to make an impression. And we did.

Growth Fueled by Impact
Every milestone has been hard-earned—from signing our first client to growing a passionate, committed team. We design training that opens doors—especially for those who’ve been shut out of the digital economy. From digital skills to drone certifications, from AI to app development—we’re not just teaching skills. We’re changing lives.

I’ve had the privilege of speaking at conferences, community halls, and national platforms—sharing my story and advocating for digital and financial inclusion. My journey resonates with many, and if it inspires even one person to believe in their own power, it’s worth it.

What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?

To expand to Cameroon, Botswana, Nigeria , Kenya and Ghana. To set up the biggest, trendiest co-sharing workspace in Africa, Cape Town and Johannesburg. We are hoping to secure investors to buy the building and then we will furnish it for creatives and businesses to rent. To grow our sports technology skills training portfolio, and to complete our smart cities data analytics SaaS product and launch. We are engaging with the UAE to find synergies and partners here.

“Everyone deserves a better life. Sometimes, the solutions are simpler than we think. All it takes is the courage to begin, the humility to learn, and the consistency to keep showing up—one step at a time.”

What gives you the most satisfaction being an entrepreneur?

Being the manager of my own time, and treating people the way I wanted to be treated.

What's the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?

Save before you start. Test the market before you launch. Work on pivoting and processes and find people who share your values and passion and be consistent and deliberate about delivering great customer service
