Keshni Morar, a South African entrepreneur looking to bring a little style into busy women’s lives

How often do you hear busy women, at home and at work, complaining about the fact they have so little time to look after their wardrobe and their image? Well in South Africa, help is at hand from a new personalised, online styling services called Styld, created by entrepreneur Keshni Morar.

LoA chatted to Keshni Morar this month to learn more about this unique service.

What does your company do?

Styld is a fully personalized online personal styling service, powered by talented stylists, image consultants and evolving technologies. We aim to bring you the best of what Africa has to offer! By partnering with designers across the continent, starting right here at home, we aim to revolutionize your shopping habits and complete your wardrobes with quality clothing and accessories that will not break the bank.

By tracking the evolution of your style journey over time, we are able to dress you in hand-picked clothing that makes you look and feel fabulous every day! The more information you provide combined with the orders you place, the better we can personalize your Styld Surprises in the future.Think about how this is going to change your life!! Seriously! No more rushing around, no more wasting time in chain stores, and no more clothing you buy and never wear! It’s really as simple as 1, 2, 3! You’re a few clicks away from a whole new shopping experience!

If you want an even more personal experience, step into our closet at our Styld Studio on Saxby! We offer a number of services in Studio for women and men which includes:
Original designer wear; Image & personal brand management; Style & colour consultations; Style & grooming workshops; and Business & Executive Coaching.

“By partnering with designers across the continent, starting right here at home, we aim to revolutionize your shopping habits and complete your wardrobes with quality clothing and accessories that will not break the bank.”

What inspired you to start your company?

Being a busy mum who also worked 24/7 as a mergers and acquisitions executive, I had no time to myself, let alone time to shop. With today’s growing women-enabled workforce and the general time constraint of the average working professional, there is a clear need for this service.

What keeps me motivated is the ability to help others grow - be it a client, staff member or the designers we partner with. I am contributing to the revival of the South African manufacturing industry in my small way.

Why should anyone use your service or product?

It’s convenient, personal and simple. We take the hassle out of finding the perfect clothing to enhance your personal brand (dress for success) and give you back your time to focus on more important aspects of your life.

Tell us a little about your team

We are a small team of 7 people who work remotely and are all entrepreneurial in nature. Two of us, the stylists, are based in the office (the Styld Studio), while the rest work from wherever they please! Broadly, they cover technology, legal, finance and marketing. We are always looking to bring great sales people and agents into our partner network.

Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And, do you come from an entrepreneurial background?

I come from a long line of entrepreneurs, many of whom barely finished school, but were very successful in multiple businesses and industries. For about 10 years, since the age of 8, I had worked in flea markets, running my dad’s jewellery stalls. I joined the corporate world at the age of 17 and worked for companies like Accenture and Vodafone to name a few. The combination of both experiences has given me the knowledge, skills and confidence to venture out on my own.

What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?

I plan to take this service to other markets across the continent.

What gives you the most satisfaction being an entrepreneur?

Being able to grow others and contribute to the economy in a meaningful way.

What's the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?

1. Have a safety net of cash for the desert days - when there's no cash coming in, but a whole lot going out.
2. Stay abreast of technological enhancements within your industry.
3. Networks are key to growth.
4. If you're not good at something, partner up with or hire someone who is.

Why LoA loves it….

They always say that to build a successful business you need to identify a need in the marketplace and then create a product or service to fill that need. For entrepreneur Keshni Morar, she identified a need to help women to feel and look good in their day to day lives by taking away the hassle of shopping for clothes and accessories. Her company Styld is winning clients who need to dress for success in their personal and business lives, but who need to preserve their valuable time to focus on what is important - and that doesn’t include shopping. Keshni may well be onto a winning business concept! --- Melanie Hawken, founder and ceo of Lionesses of Africa
