One of our truly inspirational Lionesses of Africa, Margaret Hirsch, the co-founder and Chief Operations Officer of the Hirsch Group and a champion for womens empowerment, has received the award for the most Influential Woman In Wholesale and Retail for the African Continent. She was also given a Lifetime Achievement Award in her category in the Titans Most Influential Women in Business and Government awards ceremony that took place at the Gallagher Estates Convention Centre in Gauteng on 10 November. This is the 14th top business award won by Margaret over the last four years.
The Awards ceremony was hosted by CEO Global. Regional events were held in eight countries throughout the African continent, leading up to the glittering Continental Gala Dinner, where the winners for the whole Continent were announced.
Speaking about what it means to be recognised with these awards, Margaret said, “I was absolutely overwhelmed but thrilled - when you think that this is the culmination of 37 years of hard work it was wonderful to be recognised and I was very fortunate to have a table of fabulous Women of Worth to support me."

Sharing her advice on being a successful entrepreneur and how to deal with some of the challenges, Margaret said, “As an entrepreneur you are on your own a lot of the time; there is no one to pat you on the back and tell you you are doing well. Sometimes you just need someone to reassure you that you are on the right path. So for those entrepreneurs who are wondering why they are doing it - just know that it will all come right in the end, and if its not right, its not the end yet!”
