On 7 October, one of South Africa’s leading mobile solutions entrepreneurs, Lynette Hundermark, Managing Director and co-Founder of Useful and Beautiful, took to the speaker platform to address delegates at the Achieve Success Summit at the Royal Swazi Convention Centre in Swaziland.  The event positions itself as the Region's number one Success Seminar and aims to help attendees to develop a wealth creation attitude by learning the psychology of success, unlocking a real "Can do" attitude, and creating the right strategies to achieve success.

The event encouraged the 500 delegates, mostly women business professionals, to think beyond their boundaries and explore their full potential.

Lynette was well placed to share her own secrets to entrepreneurial success and the journey she has taken to create her company, Useful and Beautiful. The mobile technology space is probably one of the most rapidly changing and dynamic sectors, and for businesses and organisations that can often prove a challenge, finding the best solutions to meet their needs. Lynette Hundermark’s company, Useful and Beautiful (U&B), is looking to breakthrough the clutter and find the right mobile technology solutions and develop the right strategies to fit each client’s specific objectives, and add real value to the business.

Her presentation titled “What Glass Ceiling?: Always Push The Boundaries” covered a wide range of topics aimed at making the delegates think, starting with the benefits of following the non traditional career route and how to cultivate your ambition. One of the practical elements of the presentation focused on how to deal with reality once personal and business circumstances change, and as a result, recognising the need to constantly re-evaluate things, and to take a more agile approach to life. She addressed the need to define one’s purpose in life and work, separating the what, how and why, and she looked at the importance of having inspiration as a key motivational tool, recognising what makes you get up in the morning each day. She also shared the importance of mentorship and the pivotal role to be played by those great people who are able to make you push your personal boundaries and achieve more in life. Finally, Lynette spoke about fighting the fear of failure and, where obstacles and hurdles arise, finding the way to turn them into opportunities instead. She wrapped up her talk by encouraging all the delegates to make a career of something they felt passionate about, and to go out and find their inspiration and never stop pushing boundaries.

The day before the conference included a surprise visit to the University of Swaziland where Lynette spoke to computer science students at all levels, both male and female, together with their lecturers. She arrived at 4.30pm for what should have been a 30 minute chat, which instead ended up being 90 mins.  She shared her career journey in IT from her school days, to working in Johannesburg in South Africa, then working in the UK, becoming a mom, and returning to South Africa, where today she is running her own successful company. The students found Lynette’s talk both fascinating and inspirational.

Organisers of the Achieve Success Summit said:

“After hearing you on SAFM analyzing technology for business enhancement, we identified the need that it was necessary to have someone like you to share and contribute to the economic vibrations of Swaziland. Hence we took an initiative to fly to Cape Town to meet with you in person. We are very delighted of the decision we took to invite you as your presence was felt in Swaziland and has left the delegates in amazement. We believe your presentation played a role in encouraging the local business community, entrepreneurs, innovators and students to “unlock their business potential”. And most of all, thank you for believing in and supporting the vision of Achieve Success Summit. Whilst the country identifies strategies for achieving the goals contained in Vision 2022, as the Achieve Success Team we believe the knowledge you shared will go a long way in contributing to the realization of the set objectives for the vision.”

One of the delegates attending the event, Lily Way, also commented:

“Thank you so much for making time for us. I needed to hear what you had to say on the day. I hope you enjoyed the summit.”
