If you are a woman startup based in Mozambique, then the Startup Weekend Maputo, sponsored by Standard Bank and powered by Google for Entrepreneurs, is the place to be this weekend from 13 to 15 November, at the Centro Cultural Americano Martin Luther King, Av. Mao Tse Tung 542, Maputo, Mozambique.

The Startup Weekend is a global network of leaders and high-impact entrepreneurs on a mission to inspire, educate and empower individuals, teams and communities. In other words, the Startup Weekend is an immersion event, a unique experience where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if their startup ideas are viable.

The Startup Weekend event follows a basic model: anyone is welcome to present their startup idea and receive feedback from other participants. Teams are formed around the best ideas (determined by vote) and from there, 54 hours of creating business models , programming, design and market validation follow. The weekend ends with the presentation of projects to successful entrepreneurs in order to receive invaluable feedback.

The event judges include Luis Couto, Commercial Director, MCEL; Victor Mourana, Business Development Manager for Microsoft; Juscelina Guirengane, CEO, Sahane Consultoria & Servicos Lda. A large team of highly experienced coaches and mentors will also be present at the event to help guide the startups in attendance.
