by Ntsoaki Sibiya

The coronavirus pandemic is the most challenging situation the security industry has faced. The virus has had an impact on the fundamentals of society and security is both becoming critically important and disposable at the same time.

Let’s change the ‘R’ number to an ‘I’ number for ‘Impact’ in 2021

January 10, 2021 Melanie Hawken
pablo-1349.png

By the Lionesses of Africa Operations Dept

One of the things we all learnt in 2020 was what was meant by the ‘R’ number - the rate at which a sick person will pass on (in this case) COVID-19 to others. According to ISGlobal the average ‘R’ for an infected person with CV19 is around 2.5 in each 5 day period of incubation. An ‘R’ of less than 1 is good because it means that the number being infected is growing smaller, but over 30 days will still infect others, and thanks to the brilliant Visual Capitalist looks something like this…

September 20, 2020 Melanie Hawken
pablo-443.png

From the Lionesses of Africa Operations Dept

We ended last week by introducing the term ‘Lean organisation’. To create more value for customers with less resources. As we pointed out ‘perfection’ cannot be attained, but by aiming for perfection, so we get incredible results…

Get better prepared for the impact of yesterday and the future of tomorrow

September 6, 2020 Melanie Hawken

by Gercia Sequeira, CEO and cofounder of ITIS

I can't change the direction of the wind or the tides, but I can adjust my sails to rich my destination - Confucius

Suddenly everything changed, and the worst of all nightmares was the increasingly palpable uncertainty! And the voice that screams in every entrepreneurial woman’s heart is that, a time of crisis is a time of opportunity. It seems like a “cliché”, unreachable. However, it allowed us to identify the harsh reality. We weren’t prepared! Schools, supermarkets, people, the government, nobody was prepared.

Think outside the box, have fun and earn US$!

May 15, 2020 Melanie Hawken
pablo-26.png

From the Lionesses of Africa Operations Dept

You may have noticed the falling of all currencies in Africa against the US$, this means two things:

  1. that everyone is after one thing - US$

  2. that your value to the rest of the world just got far stronger.

Re-opening your business: A ‘how to’ guide

May 8, 2020 Melanie Hawken
pablo-8.png

From the Lionesses of Africa Operations Department

Africa’s leaders have on the whole moved fast to shut their countries down to stop the spread of this virus. There is also discussion that with Africa’s low age of population (median age in Africa is tragically only 19.7 years), as seen here from the UN, and with its experiences of previous pandemics, these lockdowns will work and work well.

From the Lionesses of Africa Operations Department

We have covered the initial shock and awe of this terrible virus. We did not have enough time to prepare (but there was never going to be enough time), yet whatever we managed to do in the short time we had, will have significant results.
