Tanatswa Dindimanga, a Zimbabwean entrepreneur building a natural skincare brand

June 18, 2023 Melanie Hawken

Tanatswa Dindimanga, founder, Organically You Skincare (Zimbabwe)

Startup Story

Tanatswa Dindimanga is the founder of Organically You Skincare, a natural skincare brand in Zimbabwe that creates products that are good for every skin type. The business was created in response to her own journey to find natural, organic solutions to various skin conditions she experienced, and now she helps other customers do the same with her brand.

LoA spoke to the passion-driven brand-builder, Tanatswa Dindimanga, about her entrepreneurial journey and her ambitions for the future of her business.

What does your company do?

Organically You Skincare is a natural skincare brand which makes a range of products all using natural ingredients that are good for every skin type. We formulate skincare products from the natural ingredients that are available. We have products such as turmeric scrub, turmeric face cream, turmeric lotion, aloe vera gel, raw shea butter, African black soap, liquid African black soap, turmeric soap, goat milk soap, goat milk cream, shea butter lotion, coconut lotion, aqueous cream, charcoal activated soap and body wash. Our main aim as Organically You Skincare is to focus on people with different skincare conditions such as acne, eczema, rash, blackheads, whiteheads, blemishes, hyperpigmentation and skin discoloration.

“The force that pushed me to start a skincare brand was because of my own sensitive acne prone skin. Being motivated by the power of doing my own thing I decided to start my own natural skincare brand which caters for all skin types.”

What inspired you to start your company?

The force that pushed me to start a skincare brand was because of my own sensitive acne prone skin. I struggled with acne for 4 years to a point where my skin was very, very bad. In the process of finding a solution for my skin I used several products which ended up damaging my skin to the point where I started researching about natural skincare solutions and products. I did my research well and started using natural skincare products and solutions. My skin became better, and being motivated by the power of doing my own thing I decided to start my own natural skincare brand which caters for all skin types.

Why should anyone use your service or product?

What makes Organically You Skincare special is the ingredients we use in our skincare formulation. We formulate our products using natural ingredients that are free of any harmful chemicals to the skin. Our ingredients do not have side effects.

Tell us a little about your team

Our team is dedicated, hardworking and consistent. They always produce products according to our customer's skin conditions and skin types, and to also help deliver the best to our customers.

Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And do you come from an entrepreneurial background?

My entrepreneurial journey started in 2021 when I was 18. The journey has been tough but thats not a reason for giving up. I have gone a long way to be where Organically You Skincare is today. It is not an easy road but I will keep on pushing to be where I want the brand to be.

What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?

To be the biggest supplier of organic products in Africa.

What's the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?

Age is not a limit to your dreams. Never doubt yourself. Always try to bring the best of whatever you are planning to do. Females can also do what males can do. Gender is not a barrier when it comes to business. Always put God first in everything you plan .

Why LoA loves it…

They say that if you want to create a successful business, then harness your personal experiences and challenges and turn them into solutions. For Tanatswa Dindimanga, that inspiration to start a business came from her own battle with skin conditions that required a more natural and gentler approach to skincare and healing. She used her positive experiences in finding a natural skincare solution that worked on her own skin as the inspiration to start a business that could help others. Today, her business is growing, her product range is increasing, and her journey to business success is a continual learning experience. — Melanie Hawken, founder & ceo, Lionesses of Africa
