Startup Story

Mércia Cossa Bomba is the founder of N`sky Arte Da Felicidade & Serviços in Mozambique, a small company with four workers focused on manual arts and crafts, and which has been in the market for 5 years. She started her company at the time as a hobby whilst also employed as a secretary for a cosmetics distributor. But because she has a son with chronic atopic dermatitis, she was forced to quit her job in order to take care of her son. However, as she always tried to be financially independent, she started to make handmade invitations and bracelets, and her business was born.

Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And do you come from an entrepreneurial background

I started my business alone and I was my first client, I made the invitations and my wedding bouquet. Over time, I graduated and started working with the capulana which is our favorite in the company. I don't come from any formal training background, I learned by doing and out of curiosity. In 2021, I participated in a small entrepreneurship training programme.

What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?

Make my brand a national and international reference point and be able to help many women to become financially independent.

What gives you the most satisfaction being an entrepreneur?

Achieving the satisfaction of my clients and my colleagues (employees).

A satifação dos meus clientes e dos meus colegas (colaboradores).

What's the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?

Getting started is the hardest part, but with focus, discipline and determination it is possible to get somewhere. Don't give up on the woman you dream of some day being.
