Aurora Matavel is Founder and CEO of SCS, Lda (Mozambique). She is an experienced and award-winning entrepreneur. The business of SCS, Lda is focused on providing ecological cleaning services and integrated pest control that preserve the environment. She founded the business 2 years ago and now employs 5 people, many of them women from the Local Community. She has 5 years of experience in business and as customer service with one of the main banks in the country.

LoA chatted to founder Aurora Matavel this month to learn more about her passion for business and her approach to eco-cleaning, and how she is helping her clients to create their own clean home/work environments.
What does your company do?
Provision of integrated urban pest control and ecological washing services.

What inspired you to start your company?
What inspired me to start my company was my passion for environmental impact businesses and the need to create my own job and for other people. I was also inspired to help preserve the environment by offering eco-friendly furniture washing and pest control services.

Why should anyone use your service or product?
Our concern with the preservation of the environment and reducing the waste of water in washing furniture and the use of ecological techniques in pest control is the reason people should use our services.

Tell us a little about your team
My team is made up of 90% women and 10% men, it is a young and motivated team, always available to meet the customer's needs.
A minha equipe é constituída por 90% mulheres e 10 % Homens , é uma equipe jovem e motivada, sempre disponível para atender as necessidades do cliente.
Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And do you come from an entrepreneurial background?
As an entrepreneur I have been the recipient of two training programmes. The first was at Ideate (Standard Bank 2020) and the second was at The Tony Elumelu Foundation 2021 entrepreneurship program (the largest entrepreneurship program in Africa) where in addition to training, I received mentorship and the final award.
Como empreendedora recebi 2 treinamentos. O primeiro foi no ideate (Standard Bank 2020) e o segundo foi no programa de empreendedorismo The Tony Elumelu Foundation 2021 ( o maior programa de empreendedorismo de África) onde além de treinamento, recebi Mentoria e o prêmio final.
What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?
Expand the business to all provinces of Mozambique, and to neighboring countries of Mozambique.

What gives you the most satisfaction being an entrepreneur?
Bringing the solutions to my customers' problems. Being able to help my clients solve the problem of dirt on their furniture and avoiding diseases caused by pests.
Trazer a solução para os problemas dos meus clientes. Poder ajudar os meus clientes a resolver pride sujidade em seus móveis e a evitar doenças acusadas por pragas.
What's the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?
Start with what you have, be bold, and don't be afraid to try new things.
Iniciem com o que tem, sejam ousadas e não tenham medo de experimentar novas coisas.
