Startup Story

Developing people and human capital is the key to the successful economic development of any country. In Mozambique, entrepreneur Mara Cancune, founder of CharbanúRH - Consultoria e Capacitação, is playing her role to ensure that young people are trained to enter the labour market.

LoA chatted to Mara Cancune recently to find out more.

What does your company do?

CharbanúRH is a company dedicated to human development. In terms of services, we consult in the area of human capital, outsourcing in the area of HR management, training for young people wishing to enter the labor market, training for employees in terms of attitudes, behaviors, ways of being, and development of institutional policies that aim to create a balance between individual and organizational interests. We also offers services in the recruitment and selection of employees, organizational climate diagnostics, and all other processes in the development of the main resource of organizations - their people.

“The Human Being is the most difficult resource to manage in organizations.”

What inspired you to start your company?

My willingness to be independent and free always came first. But on the other hand, I also identified several aspects to be improved in my area of expertise and decided that I myself could start making that difference directly.

Why should anyone use your service or product?

The Human Being is the most difficult resource to manage in organizations. And in our global component, although not very apparent, the human being is treated as an essential part but not as the main and fundamental part of a business. We do not only manage productive processes, we manage above all the emotions, attitudes, and abilities that are behind all productive processes. We harness the transformation component of inexperienced young people into professionally capable professionals to take up their places in the labor market. We turn negative unmotivated workers into positively boosted employees.

Tell us a little about your team

I have a good team. It is the best team that a company dealing with people could have. It is a team composed of 7 young people, all women with individual purposes but who collectively are transformed into one. The goal - to act in a determined and focused way for the development of the Human Capital of our organizations.

Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And, do you come from an entrepreneurial background?

Entrepreneurship started in me. I always wanted to be independent, and I knew that even being the best collaborator in a company, I would always be subject to other people's ideals. I always wanted to imagine and implement until it works, and this is only possible in entrepreneurship.

What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?

I have many plans for my company, some internal and others correlated. We currently act only in the fields of Consulting, Training, Recruitment and Selection, Development, and more. I want more than that, I have short-term plans to do all of this in a digital era, making HR processes faster and more efficient. CharbanúRH plans to be the largest Human Resources Center in the City, Country, Continent and the World. Where people think of Human Capital, they can associate us quickly with it.

What gives you the most satisfaction being an entrepreneur?

Freedom and autonomy of being able to create a short space between Dream, Idealize and Execute.

What's the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?

All women must follow their instincts. No person is able to decide the course of their lives other than ourselves. We must invest in ourselves, make an internal investment. Change our ways of being, acting, thinking and, yes, it will change our lives.
