The globally renowned and multi-award winning Malawian fashion designer, Lilly Alfonso, founder of the luxury fashion brand that carries her name, has just been globally recognized for her work once again. This week, Lilly was invited to attend the 5th Edition Summer 2019 International Fashion Awards in Cairo, Egypt where she was honoured for her work and her luxury fashion brand.

Building a fashion brand with a unique personality, great style appeal, and a social conscience can be a tall order for many.
The International Fashion Awards were held at the Semiramis Intercontinental Hotel on 24 March 2019 and this latest recognition which celebrated her in this festival of excellence and creativity followed on from her recent participation in two other events in Egypt, when she exhibited her designs. Lilly, who was recently featured on CNN’s African Voices, said she was excited to be invited to the International Fashion Awards, commenting:
“This award is coming after my participation in the inaugural Intra-African Trade Fair which was held in Cairo in December last year. trade fair and fashion show. The Export Development Fund and other players such as Mzuzu Coffee, Macoha and Gemstone Association of Malawi sponsored me to attend the fair. This is an event that made things possible for me to be one of those receiving an award. I am very thankful to Export Development Fund for sponsoring Malawi’s businesses.
