March 24, 2019 Melanie Hawken
Leah Kitoloh, founder of LeahK Pty Ltd (South Africa)

Leah Kitoloh, founder of LeahK Pty Ltd (South Africa)

For a country’s economy to grow, it requires the development and harnessing of skills on the part of the population to fulfill their potential and make meaningful contributions to society and the economy. For South African entrepreneur, Leah Kitoloh, founder of specialist business consultancy, LeahK Pty Ltd, that was the starting point for building a niche business model.

LoA chatted to founder Leah Kitoloh this month to learn more about how she and her company are building a legacy for future generations in business.

What does your company do?

At LeahK we believe that by networking and building collaborative communities, we all win. We don’t work on a traditional model but rather a futuristic model with a wider scope of skills and experience. Working through our three focus areas, our capabilities allow us to deliver our ultimate intent of making an impact and building legacy for our future generations.

“At LeahK we believe that by networking and building collaborative communities, we all win.”

What inspired you to start your company?

I am blessed to have identified my life's purpose to positively contribute to building a legacy for our future generation's through values that translate as a way of life, giving back to the rich continent we are blessed with. Establishing LeahK and driving projects like A Woman’s Worth Chapters was my hope in sharing my journey of experiences that have resulted in a celebration of the amazing connections that today are strong, meaningful relationships. My hope is to invoke inspiration that creates opportunities of continued collaboration across the continent. An aligned vision of purpose of a shared journey that we deliberately contribute to Building a Legacy that will future proof skills in Africa.

Why should anyone use your service or product?

We work collaboratively to improve and deliver services to our clients that make a positive impact on their journey and strategic intent. We showcase talent and skills that contribute to both entrepreneurship growth and the African economy as a whole.

Tell us a little about your team

We have a diverse team of collaborators from talent performance improvement consultants to agency media and graphics creatives, all of whom are dedicated to producing effective, result and impact driven, customised solutions to meet our clients’ needs. We combine academics and street smarts to ensure our team produce best fit solutions that exceed even the most challenging requirements from our clients.

Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And, do you come from an entrepreneurial background?

In 2014, my partner and I established The Art Kartel Media, a unique proposition that brings a new edge to media with our innovative flare to photography, media and graphics design. The Art Kartel Media works with young talent and start ups to establish their brands. Coining and using the adage ‘Tili Ponsé’ which means we are everywhere you need us, our combined skills aligned to the various business and individual nuances, as well as challenges in the various Pan African Business fields and environments. Our collective experience enabled us to offer connect sessions that bring like minded entrepreneurs, business and visionary, like-minded individuals to celebrate and create profound, mind shifting, ground-breaking ideas, make deep connections and find unique opportunities to change lives through shared collaboration. The Connect sessions are about strategic planning, organizing and hosting workshops to empower collaborations and partnerships that ultimately develop into multiple revenue streams in our challenged economy. The sessions attract driven individuals who desire to take charge of their financial future, expand their knowledge, and build their confidence regarding wealth, money and credit.

“We work collaboratively to improve and deliver services to our clients that make a positive impact on their journey and strategic intent.”

What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?

At LeahK we ultimately envision a world where individuals who want to make an impact through collaboration can develop their skills, identify opportunities that positively shape communities as well as our economy, and work collectively across the continent to establish collaborating chapters that build a legacy for our future generations.

What gives you the most satisfaction being an entrepreneur?

There is nothing as gratifying as celebrating success journeys of connections and collaboration that have resulted in making a positive impact in individuals’ lives, as well as the community. Creating opportunities for learning and skills development that enables sound minds and financial awareness, make it a very rewarding journey and lived purpose.

What's the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?

Identify your purpose and align this with your strategy. This makes it easy to always be aligned and focused in order to make this remarkable journey. Make the time for meaningful connections and build strong relationships, this will open doors for collaboration. You create your own success if you are clear on your purpose.
