According to author Jodi Brandon in her latest book, Write. Publish. Market: From Idea to Published Book: The Entrepreneur’s Blueprint, so many creative business owners and entrepreneurs have ‘writing a book’ on their bucket list, but are intimated by the process. If you are one such entrepreneur, and you think you have a book just bursting to get out, but you just can’t get started or simply don’t know how, then this is a great read just for you!

Write. Publish. Market. From Idea to Published Book: The Entrepreneur’s Blueprint by Jodi Brandon is the blueprint for creative entrepreneurs to go from “I want to write a book to scale my business, but how?” to printed book/ebook. This is a book that practically shows readers how to accomplish some pretty fundamental building blocks on the way to publishing that first book including:

  • How to shift your mindset from business owner to writer

  • How to craft a research plan to support your writing plan/schedule

  • How to find a cover designer so your book makes a great first impression

  • How to prepare your manuscript for print and ebook publication

  • How to create a successful book launch plan and marketing strategy

By breaking the process of writing and publishing down into key steps and stages, it makes it seem less daunting and more accountable, ensuring that the end goal of actually getting a book into print is more realizable.

You might be wondering why I advocate for entrepreneurs to self-publish rather than publish traditionally. Amongst the biggest two reasons are control and money.

When you self publish, you control the entire process; the timeline, who works on your book, your cover designer, your interior designer, your publicist, the content, and the cover.

When you self publish, you keep more money. Traditional book publishing contracts favour the publisher, not the author.

The invisible income streams that a book can provide in the form of lead generation, speaking engagements, and referrals - for entrepreneurs, these income streams cannot be overlooked.
