Mariée Boutique Lda is a specialist event and wedding planning company, founded by passionate entrepreneur Iris Munguambe in Mozambique. It is rapidly building a reputation for creating beautiful events for its clients, all with that personal touch and a great attention to detail. LoA chatted to founder Iris Munguambe this month to find out more about this special eventing business.
What does your company do?
At Mariée Boutique Lda, our business specializes in event/wedding planning and logistics. Our aim is to fulfill our clients’ desires for their special events, providing the best quotation and high quality production, all depending on their budget.

What inspired you to start your company?
Our business is all about fulfilling dreams, and the love of seeing our clients’ dreams become a reality. Our inspiration comes from the love of hand-made work, dealing with clients, working with colors, operating in different environments, fulfilling our client’s eventing desires, and ensuring everything that makes people happy is provided with a simple and memorable day.
Why should anyone use your service or product?
We take out the stress away from our clients when planning events. We go after the best wholesalers in town, we negotiate the best quotations, we discuss everything with our partners, and we bring the best range of services to our clients when planning their events.
Tell us a little about your team
Our team is made up of four young ladies, aged 27, 28(2) and 53. We work with passion, team work, friendship and respect. We know exactly where we want to be, and the goals we want to achieve. This is my dream team, for sure!
Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And, do you come from an entrepreneurial background?
I started my entrepreneurial journey when I was 17 back in 2007, with a small company started with my friends, Quetzal Invites. We worked in the field of event decoration and the production of event invitation cards, and for our age at that time, we were financially independent young ladies. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the maturity to deal with the pressure of running a business, and we eventually closed the company. In 2013 I saw a movie called The Wedding Planner, and in that moment I started to write my business plan, During the course of the next 3 years I planned the business, and on August 1st 2017, I decided to open my own Wedding Planning Services business in Mozambique, which is still operating today. It’s a dream come true. There have been many stressful times, no money, no space (I started at home for 4 months). Now I have my own office and it’s the place to be! In my family we don’t have that entrepreneurial side, so it’s just me and my uncle, we are the only ones with our own businesses in the family. However, my mom is my business partner and responsible for all the contracts and legal side of the business.

What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?
I would love to have Mariée in every province of this country and to be known internationally. I aspire to make life easier for all my future clients, fulfilling their event dreams no matter what their budget, so they can live the best day of their lives.
What gives you the most satisfaction being an entrepreneur?
Inspiring other people with my story, and sharing my journey as an entrepreneur. I want to be a good example to other young ladies, telling them how I started at the age of 17 and now 11 years laterI, have my own space. We can be more than we can imagine, and we can run the world!
What's the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?
Never look at your self as a failure or you can’t do what you aspire to achieve.
We can go to the moon and back and bring the stars if possible.
Lets be more united for only one purpose, to make this place a better place to be whilst we are here and for the future generations of young ladies who will follow.
