Deyzes Pereira, a Mozambican entrepreneur helping small companies to grow and thrive

Deyzes Pereira, founder of Startups Consulting (Mozambique)

Any young startup knows how hard it is in the early days to build a strong business foundation. In Mozambique, that’s where Startups Consulting comes to the rescue. Founder Deyzes Pereira and her team bring years of experience and specialist knowledge to help any new business to put the right strategy and organisational structure in place to increase the odds of success.

LoA met with the inspirational Deyzes Pereira last month at the Lioness Lean In event in Mozambique to find out more about this ambitious entrepreneur.

What does your company do?

At Startups Consulting, we help business founders to structure their business ideas. We help them with the following specialist areas:

  • Project feasibility analysis: business plans

  • Corporate presentations

  • Structuring business requirements

  • Optimization of business processes: improvement in the way they carry out the activities in the company

  • Workshops and training

  • Management of social networks

“We help business founders to structure their business ideas.”

What inspired you to start your company?

My first inspiration came from the fact that my parents have a business of their own. And when I started working at a company, I had so many dreams and plans that I needed to do more. In our market, we have companies that provide this type of specialist business consulting service to medium and large companies with high costs, leaving the other segments forgotten.

Why should anyone use your service or product?

We have a passion for our work, and our main objective is to help small companies to structure themselves or to evolve with greater and better visibility. Our brand reputation is based on the professionalism and assertiveness reflected in the work that we do, so that we please our customers.

Tell us a little about your team

My team are my partners! And partners are like friends, we do not need to have many but we have to have the best working with us. And we work together and grow together every day, sharing ideas and experiences. Each member of our team has added value to the business according to their academic background and previous professional experience.

Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And, do you come from an entrepreneurial background?

My parents have been entrepreneurs for many years. And when I started working I decided to do consulting work extra, but without success. I then decided to do my Masters in Project Management, and after that began to appear applications to carry out specialist consulting work. That is how Startups Consulting was born.

What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?

To create a team that is broad and qualified in its own space, with the following aims:

  • Increase service offerings

  • Have a digital platform for our services

  • Be recognized for the quality of service

  • Increase customer base

“Our brand reputation is based on the professionalism and assertiveness reflected in the work that we do, so that we please our customers.”

What gives you the most satisfaction being an entrepreneur?

Firstly, it is the pleasure of doing what I like, helping people with small businesses to emerge or solidify their presence and reputation in the market. And lastly, it's the fact that my job allows me to learn from various business areas.

What's the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?:

Be a researcher, analyze and take risks.

Believe in your potential.

Look at the right people and leave everything in writing.

Follow your dreams and try different strategies.

And do not give up after the first difficulties you face.
