Samantha Dube, founder of Seeds Consulting (South Africa)

Anyone faced with the tasks organizing events knows just how daunting it can seem, with multiple logistics to deal with and a seemingly unending set of decisions to be made. One South African company is on a mission to make this task so much easier. Seeds Consulting, the brainchild of entrepreneur Samantha Dube, is bringing an end-to-end solution for event coordination, making the job of eventing a pleasure instead of a chore.

LoA found out more about this interesting, specialist service provider this month.

What does your company do?

At Seeds Consulting, we offer event co-ordination, design and execution, as well as the hire of specialist event equipment such as stretch tents, PA and sound systems, and event decor.

"I was inspired by my passion for the hospitality and entertainment industry, as well as by my passion for making a difference in the lives of others. I saw starting my own business as an avenue for me to live out these passions."

What inspired you to start your company?

I was inspired by my passion for the hospitality and entertainment industry, as well as by my passion for making a difference in the lives of others. I saw starting my own business as an avenue for me to live out these passions.

Why should anyone use your service or product?

Our products are of a great quality. We are reliable and go the extra mile to ensure that your Seeds experience is met. Our creativity knows no bounds. We find cool innovative ways of bringing your ideal event to life.

Tell us a little about your team

Our Team comprises of young and vibrant individuals , who love people and go above and beyond to make them happy. They are very professional and enjoy what they do.

Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And, do you come from an entrepreneurial background?

My entrepreneurial journey started from watching my parents run a little spaza shop from our home. I absolutely loved interacting with our customers. After I graduated from studying food and beverage management. I worked for several companies as Catering Manager and Executive Chef. I also had the opportunity to represent our Country wearing our official green and gold colours in several International Culinary Competitions. In 2009 I decided to take the leap by resigning from my job to pursue my dream of owning nationwide boutique hotels and event venues. As a stepping stone towards my main goal, I decided to start out my business with what drew me to the Food and Hospitality Industry in the first place. And that was watching a family friend coordinate a wedding. I was in my teens at the time, but completely fell in love with the idea that I could one day do the same.So I started out my business with event management and hiring services.

"My future plans are to own an urban chic South African street food restaurant, along with several Boutique Hotels and Event Venues around South Africa, and possibly to branch out into Africa in the future."

What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?

My future plans are to own an urban chic South African street food restaurant, along with several Boutique Hotels and Event Venues around South Africa, and possibly to branch out into Africa in the future.

What gives you the most satisfaction being an entrepreneur?

What gives me the most satisfaction about being an entrepreneur is the fact that I can make a difference in another person's life. I can inspire other young women of colour who come after me. I can prove to them that it is possible to be a young woman from an impoverished background with so much around you that tells you that there's nothing more out there than just this environment that they are currently trapped in. I can prove to that young lady that there is hope.

What's the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?

Trust the Journey...
Enjoy the Journey...
There will be times that you feel tired, discouraged and even hopeless. This is usually because you want to reach the destination already. But it is important to enjoy the ride, because you will miss out on so many beautiful lessons and experiences. And life is all about the experiences after all.

Why LoA loves it….

Having a clear specialism or niche in business can often provide an advantage in the marketplace, particularly if the product or service offering is attractive to corporate and private clients. For Samantha Dube, founder of Seeds Events, she saw an opportunity to help clients to coordinate high quality event experiences by providing an end-to-end service which would alleviate the stress and time associated with this type of work. She has found her niche and her clients love her for it. --- Melanie Hawken, founder and editor-in-chief of Lionesses of Africa
