Getting daily access to safe, clean, affordable water is a priority for many of Rwanda’s citizens. For entrepreneur Christelle Kwizera, providing a series of game-changing solutions to that challenge is what drives her business, Water Access Rwanda.
Water Access Rwanda is the avenue of all things water, according to its passion driven founder, Christelle Kwizera. Since 2014, the company has provided various services in the collection, treatment and distribution of water. All company offerings are selected based on the company’s motto: Simple, Affordable and Durable. Over the past five years, Water Access Rwanda has provided access to clean, safe and affordable water to over 159,000 people and provided powerful off-grid systems to 8 farms and businesses. In 2017, the company pioneered the INUMA(TM) safe water micro-grid, where currently 57,000+ people daily access safe purified water at a small price of $0.001 per liter and where a growing number of families have private home water access, cutting their water walk to zero. The company offers drilling services, geo-surveying, filters and pump installation, trainings, and other related services to guarantee access to water for any situation, and any budget.
When Water Access Rwanda first started, it was with the mission to employ young people in the fight against water scarcity, creating opportunities out of two major problems: economic water scarcity and youth unemployment. The company has evolved its product offering, going from one-off service offering to building and managing sustainable water infrastructure. The company is now launching a range of services divided across the following segments:
Amazi.rw
The home of filters - takes advantage of rainwater and already available tap water to provide access to safe water across the whole house, schools, clinics and other institutions, so that tap water is drinkable and rain water is used for good instead of creating floods.
Uhira.rw
Food security is getting more complicated with changing climates. With the company’s off-grid, borehole-fed systems, farmers enjoy peace of mind with uninterrupted water access all year round. And they don't need to go to the bank for financing as the company provides flexible payment plans at 0% interest.
Inuma.rw
Safe purified water micro-grids for everyone, at only $0.001 every liter.
Voma.rw
Water is a basic need, but providing it is complex. With Voma, Water Access Rwanda designs with partners tailored solutions to address the water crisis in proven and/or novel ways.
Speaking about the new product and service offerings from Water Access Rwanda, founder and ceo, Christelle Kwizera says:
“Water being a basic need of life is needed in all operations, from farmers to schools, households to clinics; no matter the size of the operation, everyone needs water.
With our different offerings, Water Access Rwanda is easing the burden on our customers to make sure they can access water today with minimal hardships.”
Water Access Rwanda will be launching its new websites dedicated to each of the newly launched business segments at the end of February 2020. The full range of products and services are available at Water Access Rwanda's offices. Through warwanda.com, customers and other partners can access the specific portals for each offering.
Commenting on her aspirations for the launch of the new web portals for each service offering, Christelle adds:
“Water is a basic need, but providing water is quite complex. The farmer does not need the same level of access as a clinic, nor does a school the same as a household. But what is undoubtable is that all segments of society that work with humans and other living things need water. To help our customers find simplicity in their desire for reliable and safe water access, we are launching specific portals targeted at the needs of our customers. The farmer will find himself in our Uhira.rw program, the household in Inuma.rw, the school/clinic in amazi.rw, the social investor (NGOs, Government, CSR etc) in our voma.rw portals. I hope the creation and management of these portals, which also come with a bunch of facilities like flexible payment plans, and extended warranty periods, will really facilitate many more to activate their human right to safe water.”
