Bridget Edwards, author, catalyst, speaker

There is not a single entrepreneur out there that doesn’t experience stress along the journey to building a successful business and brand. The challenge is in understanding and managing that stress. In her new book Stress Gone!, emotional change catalyst and author, Bridget Edwards, provides a really practical guide for all those entrepreneurs who need to deal with stress on a day to day basis.

The consequences of stress-related issues are far more serious than people realise. Known as the ‘silent killer’, and confirmed by the medical fraternity, stress is responsible for approximately 90% of all illness and disease. Regardless of whether your stress is big or small, real or perceived, the body responds in the same way eliciting the fight-flight stress response. For most people, this stress response is triggered multiple times each day, and often below one’s awareness; that is the danger of stress. Everyone responds to stress in their own unique way. As a result, this makes stress more difficult to discern, and detect the negative side effects. However, not all stress is actually negative. There can be positive benefits to stress, for example, it can be a catalyst for change, a source of motivation and inspiration, an early warning signal, etc. In her book Stress Gone!, author Bridget Edwards provides a comprehensive guide and self-help programme to help with understanding and dealing with stress. At a practical level, it gives exercises that can be used each day to help quell day to day stress, plus lots of tips on dismantling stress related issues before they become more serious and challenging to deal with.

Author quotes

In a nutshell, unmanaged stress spirals out of control, affecting behaviour, emotions, cognitive abilities, health, relationships, and the ability to work or perform optimally. Stress can wreak havoc in people’s lives, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
Effective stress management is vitally important for living a healthy and vibrant life, which may not only benefit you, but your loved ones, friends and colleagues too. Take full responsibility and manage your stress effectively. If you don’t, who else can do it for you? No one! We all know the cliche, ‘you control your own destiny’.

About the author

Bridget Edwards is an Emotional Change Catalyst who has spent the greater part of 25 years studying and practising health and wellness modalities, including metaphysics. Allied to this, her own stressful and traumatic life experiences have deeply enriched her innate resourcefulness and wisdom, which she applies to her work today. She is also a trained Hospice Caregiver, and an accomplished author of two self help programs, Anger gone! How to Easily Defeat Anger, and Stress Gone! How to Identify and Reduce Stress Easily. She continues to write and develop programs to help individuals deal with and overcome personal obstacles. Without doubt, the consequences of stress have defined Bridget’s life and who she has become. From business successes, and accomplishments such as Comrades Marathon, Two Oceans, Argus Cycle Tours, summiting Kilimanjaro twice, walking approx 1,000km of Camino Francés, travelling through Africa, to surviving a fatal illness where she practically lost everything. Bridget has experienced the extremes of stress related issues. In the process of rebuilding her life she’s regarded these experiences as significantly valuable. This has also given her the opportunity to start afresh, and fulfil her passions of helping others excel beyond their personal boundaries or limitations. Media appearances include: Forbes Woman Africa, Sunday Times, The Star, SME South Africa, Body & Mind, Odyssey, Leadership Debunked, Today’s Child, Radio shows, CNBC Africa’s Kicking Doors and eTV’s Sunrise. Bridget’s a 2015 finalist and recipient of Margaret Hirsch ‘Woman in Business Achiever of the Year’ certificate. Lastly, Bridget is a columnist for two monthly magazines. Motivated and inspired to provide valuable resources to ‘Saving the Survivors’ and Sihlangene, Bridget is establishing a NPO to specifically channel support to her diverse community objectives. Her goal is to sell one million Stress Gone! books within 2 years. She welcomes both private and corporate joint social responsibility collaborations in order to radically reduce stress related issues for humanity, bringing peace to individuals, families and communities worldwide. Bridget’s expertise is essential in reducing stress in the Corporate environment. Her service offer includes books, talks, workshops, employee assistance and private counselling.

Why LoA loves it….

It’s no secret that entrepreneurs have to be adept at managing stress on a daily basis, brought on by the multiple challenges of building businesses and brands, managing cash-flow, managing people, hitting pressing deadlines, trying to break into highly competitive markets, not to mention trying to keep relationships and families together at the same time.  So, highly focused and practical resources that will help entrepreneurs to better manage stress are always welcome. Bridget Edwards has a keen sense of what it takes to manage stress, and importantly harness it at the right times to make a difference. She brings her own extensive knowledge, life experience, and expertise to the table in the this book, which will be a breath of fresh air to all those entrepreneurs currently battling stress as they build their businesses. --- Melanie Hawken, founder and editor-in-chief of Lionesses of Africa
