So, as an entrepreneur are you delivering on your promises? If you're not, you're surely going to go out of business a lot quicker than you can imagine. More often than not entrepreneurs fail not because they lack talent, but because they lack the qualities and discipline necessary to achieve longevity in business. I'm going to remind you of 5 simple, but essential disciplines that will help you to consistently deliver on your promises.
In any great business venture, your inherent talent is simply not enough to take you to the next level as an entrepreneur. In fact, business success doesn’t just happen – it comes as a result of you doing certain things in a certain way over and over; these are special behaviors and qualities that are observable and measureable.
There is nothing as frustrating as dealing with an entrepreneur who is extremely talented but completely unreliable. As a client you may be tempted to keep supporting the person because you value his or her talent, creativity and so forth, but sooner or later you will have to replace him or her for the sake of your own business.
To achieve success in your business venture and rise above the majority, you need to develop qualities that set you apart from the rest. Most of these effective behaviors are familiar but for some reason we take them for granted:
Show up on time.
Always do what you say you're going to do and by when you said you would do it.
Always acknowledge and respond to emails.
Communicate if you are unable to deliver on your promises.
Always return messages.
Your integrity and business reputation depends on delivering on what you promise. This is what attracts potential customers, or new clients, and most importantly retains existing ones. Remember, it's way easier and more cost effective to retain a customer than it is to find a new one.
